Allcocks and Co - Light Caster - 01

InTheNetUK Photo InTheNetUK Photo InTheNetUK Photo

Three classic rods;. The Allcocks Light Caster, a superb little spinning rod which in its time has tamed everything from small perch to pike of well over 20 pounds. The three rods include the round green label version of the late 1940s to the stunning gold oval label of the 1950s and early 1960s. Each has a screw fit reel handle and all three are in their original Allcocks cloth bags. All three rods are 7ft in length. Three great little rods. The agate lined rings, if you wanted to strip these rods and use for refurbishing other split cane rods, are worth the money alone. But the rods are too good for that.

This rod has hardly been used. All varnish and original rings are in very good condition. Rod is 100% straight. A joy to fish with. Light spinning 5-15 grams. 6- 8lb line - trout and perch - that sort of thing. I think it was probably made in the 50's or 60's.

With an HEH double-tapered Gliderflote up, it is an exceptionally accurate and altogether delightful little rod. Action-7ft only. Fast-Medium Dry Fly. The recommended AFTM was 5. The rod has an Allcocks two partition cloth bag in good condition which is almost certainly the original.

Lovely 10 1/2 foot vintage rod, these rods have a fantastic reputation, and many would have seen Chris Yates using one in the Passion for Angling series to catch Chub. Early model with tapered handle and oval label, Label around 90 % complete, but all the important details are visible, excellently restored to original spec, with just a very slight set to the tip section. This rod is a joy to use, and would be a perfect partner to a centre pin reel targeting Roach, Perch and Chub.

Another nice example ... An Allcocks "Lucky Strike" 3 piece split cane rod which is in superb condition. This 10ft 6inch split cane rod is as straight as a die. The original early green Allcocks transfer/label is totally unscratched. The dark brown, green tipped, ring and intermediate silk whipping is just perfect and the varnish finish is beautiful. You can see for yourself in the photo's what a beautiful piece of vintage cane this rod is. The cane is a perfect honey colour and, all importantly, has no black water damage marks. This rod has been cherished since new !!!!! The rod has an 16 inch cork shim handle that appears unused, with aluminium butt cap and aluminium reel bands. The Butt and tip rings are un-cracked brown agate lined. Intermediate rings are of the high bell style and chromium plate finish. The ferrules are in excellent order, show no significant signs of wear, and do not "Knock". They retain the full "gun metal" finish. It comes in the original bag which bears the Allcocks label which is in fair to good condition.

Allcocks and Co - Marvel Fly Rod - 9 ft

InTheNetUK Photo InTheNetUK Photo InTheNetUK Photo
InTheNetUK Photo InTheNetUK Photo

Rare split cane 9 foot Allcock's Marvel fly fishing rod. If you’ve never experienced fly fishing with a cane rod do so before you fish no more – they have a ‘softness’ and ‘sweetness’ about them that allows you to cast the lightest of lines and tiniest of flies with great delicacy yet they have the backbone to cope with the feistiest of fish in fast and heavy water. What’s more, they are robust; not easily damaged or snapped, yet readily repaired if necessary. And they look lovely, acquiring a patina of age that no carbon rod will ever enjoy.

A 9 foot split cane rod in two sections. Rod No A552. The cane is a rich well-varnished golden colour, with what looks like steel ferrules, an agate lined top ring with snake intermediates and silk whippings coloured a lovely cherry red, approximately every 2 1/8th inches. Above the handle whipping the transfer label in black, yellow, green and gold, carries the legend that reads Allcock's REGD TRADEMARK MADE IN ENGLAND Marvel and includes the distinctive gold coloured stag logo. The rod has a cork handle with silver coloured alloy or aluminium fittings. It comes in its original chocolate brown lightweight canvas bag, with two divisions. It has two sets of ties and a hanging loop at the bottom all in working condition.

Now the provenance; the original label is an absolute gem. On one side it carries the legend AN Allcocks ROD BELONGING TO and has the name of the original owner almost decipherable beneath that of KJ Jenkins written over it, along with their addresses. Finally it says S. ALLCOCK & CO. LTD., P.O. BOX 1, REDDITCH, ENGLAND.

Fishing rods should be stored in their bags freely suspended. Great care should be taken to ensure that both rod and bag are dried properly after use. To dismantle a rod, grip by the ferrules only and exert a steady straight pull.

Allcocks and Co - Wallis Wizard

InTheNetUK Photo InTheNetUK Photo InTheNetUK Photo
InTheNetUK Photo InTheNetUK Photo

1930s Allcocks EARLIEST Wallis Wizard not black -- THE RAREST OF ALL WIZARDS......The first Allcocks Wizard and Super Wizard were stained a dark green or black and bore the name WALLIS Wizard on a Green transfer and were made in the 1930s.I believe there were words had with Hardys and Allcocks had to drop the WALLIS. The Wallis was of course FWK Wallis the Avon Barbel man. This rod has had the stain removed and has been painstakingly restored using Springfield Green Pearsalls Silk to replace the original Blue and Green. It has the Allcocks Logo engraved on the Brass butt cap which houses the original Wooden button. With a magnifying glass slight traces of the stain just can be seen where it has penetrated the cane at the leaf nodes .These very early rods were finer in tapers and had a super action much the same as the Hardy editions and nothing at all like the more common and later Wizards. Being a Super Wizard this rod has Nickel Silver Rings lined with pure Agate and retains its original Ferrule Plugs. The rod comes with the original tatty Bag and a later one to carry your rod to the river where it deserves to be. The rod for sale is shown with a pre stripped Wizard (not Super) and you will agree the cane which has been hidden from daylight for 70 years looks stunning so perhaps Allcocks did us a service by hiding it.
