Aspindale Dalesman - "The Severdale" Hollow Cane Match Rod. A vintage 3-Section 12 foot hollow built cane Match rod in exceptional, original condition by one of the UKs leading rod makers: James Aspindale & Son, Redditch, England. With little signs of use, if any, this superb rod is complete with it's original cloth bag which also bears the early Aspindale label. The 19" cork handle is finished with a solid black rubber onion bung and features sliding reel fittings. The butt & intermediate sections of rod are both stamped 1A, whilst tip section is marked 3K, indicating the matching of these sections for this particular rod in it's production - signs of quality rod making. The rod is finished with the typical whipping which Aspindales used of yellow & black flecked silk, whilst butt and tip rings are agate lined. With smooth, tight fitting brass ferrules, this classic rod is a very fine early example of an English hand-built cane match rod. Butt section ferrule also has brass & cork protecting bung. Hand written inscription on rod says " Dalesman, The Severndale, Hollow Built-Cane Match Rod by Jas Aspindale & Son, Redditch, Eng."

Aspindale 'The Severndale' - this rod is in exceptional, original condition. It is a 3 section, 12 foot hollow built cane rod made by one of the UK's foremost rod makers. Could be described as a beefed up match rod and was used by many anglers in the 'All England'. The rings are whipped in the green & black mingle silk that this maker favoured using. The 20" cork handle is finished off with an alloy fitting and black button at the end. As befits a quality rod, there is a nice hook keep just in front of the handle. The inscription is very detailed in Peter Aspindale's own hand in Indian ink. It says:- Dalesman Regd, The Severndale, Hollowbuilt cane match rod, J's Aspindale & Son, Redditch, England. It is thought that the fact it says son rather than sons, makes this an early rod! The rod bag has a similar early label stuck on it.

Here is a fine example of the Aspindale Severndale split cane rod, (hollow built) 12 foot long three section rod in cracking condition. The rod comes with the original makers bag and is in perfect condition. There is a slight bit of scuffed cork where a reel has been previously, but that is not that noticeable and does not detract from this beauty of a rod.
